Hijab: Osun CAN documents bid, stay of execution

Osogbo—Scarcely 20 days after the judgment of an Osogbo High Court permitting Muslim female understudies in the state government funded schools to wear Hijab, the state part of the Christian Relationship of Nigeria, CAN yesterday documented a stay of execution on the June 3 judgment. 

This was unveiled in Osogbo by the state CAN Executive, Rev. Elisha Ogundiya amid a solidarity visit to the state CAN base camp by South-West pioneers of affiliation. Hijab-protestCAN delegates from Ogun, Oyo, Ekiti and Ondo states raged the state communicating their backing for the state Christians on the issue of disputable Hijab judgment conveyed by Equity Saka Oyejide Falola and their preparation to battle against any type of claimed Islamisation plan by Representative Rauf Aregbesola. In his address, the Secretary of South-West CAN, Rev. Alfred Aro, who talked for the benefit of the affiliation's Zonal Director, Ecclesiastical overseer Magnus Atilade, cautioned that any endeavor by Muslim understudies to wear Hijab to schools after the offer has been documented would make CAN to alright all types of pieces of clothing to be worn to schools in the state. He noticed that Falola's judgment discredited the soul of secularism of the country "and it disregards the religious privileges of the first proprietor of the evangelist schools as settled upon when the schools were assumed control by the then legislature of Oyo State in 1975". The Zonal CAN likewise communicated their worry on boycott of morning commitment and congregations in schools in some states in the nation, saying the activity must be repealed. "We note with consternation in spite of a few advances as a decent affiliation, the restriction on morning dedications and congregations in some schools in Nigeria particularly South-West Nigeria in view of wobbly reason on frailty. "Since President Muhammadu Buhari had affirmed the end to revolt, we ask all states to unban the unjustifiable choice inside the following one month."
